Aerospace Engineering Course Development and Frequency

The Aerospace Engineering program began in Fall 2006 with the course AE 339: Aerodynamics I.

Courses will be added in a logical sequence each semester until the full program is implemented. The sequence of additions will guarantee all necessary courses are available for students to complete the degree in normal time.

The implementation schedule is:

Fall 2007: AE 364: Flight Dynamics
Spring 2008: AE 439: Aerodynamics II and AE 363: Aerospace Structures
Fall 2008: AE 419: Propulsion and AE 424: Aerospace Systems
Spring 2009: AE 447: Aerodynamics Lab and AE 428: Aerospace Design

Frequency of Course Offerings

Not all courses will be offered every semester. Courses to be offered every semester are the following: Aerodynamics I, Aerodynamics II, Orbital Mechanics, Aerospace Systems, and Aerospace Design. Courses to be offered in alternating semesters are the following: Flight Dynamics, Propulsion, Aerospace Structures, and Aerodynamic Laboratory.

Course sequence by start date

Since every aerospace course is not offered every semester, a student's course sequence will depend on when he/she begins the aerospace program.

For example, if you begin the junior year of the aerospace degree program in Fall 2007 (5th semester o the AE curriculum), your sequence will look like this:

Fall 2007 Start

Fall 2007
AE 339 Aerodynamics I
AE 364 Flight Dynamics

Spring 2008
AE 439 Aerodynamics II
AE 362 Orbital Mechanics
AE 363 Aerospace Structures

Fall 2008
AE 419 Propulsion
AE 424 Aerospace Systems

Spring 2009
AE 447 Aerodynamics Laboratory
AE 428 Aerospace Design Project Laboratory
